Shabbat May 30-31

Dear Temple Beth Shalom Members and Friends, please join us for the last Shabbat of the “school year” and our last Shabbat officiated by Rabbi Herzfeld with us.  The journey does not end, but it changes direction!  As has been our custom in the Zoom era, the Shabbat and pre-Shavuot service begins on Friday, May 30 at 7:30 both in the synagogue and on Zoom accessible via contacting us.

Torah Study has been one of Rabbi Herzfeld’s favorite activities with us, and ours too.  We will be in the synagogue building together on Saturday, May 31 at 10:00 am to meet with Rabbi Herzfeld via Zoom, or you can again join us on Zoom as well from your home.

Member-Led Shabbat Service — Sat May 10, 11:00 am

Hello Temple Beth Shalom Members and Friends, after the Spring holidays and the snowbirds go home, and the school year is coming to a close, things are just getting started at our synagogue!  We have a first lay Shabbat service of our 2025-2026 year led by our returning Congregational President, Joseph Rodriguez on Saturday, May 10 at 11:00 am.  Come and help Joseph kick Shabbat and this calendar year off this Saturday.

Hello Temple Beth Shalom Members and Friends, is it Summer already?  It feels like it in some ways.  We are starting early with a relaxed, reflective, Member-Led service this Friday evening, April 25, at 7:00 PM (NOTE THE EARLIER TIME).  Join us for a traditional Reform Jewish service led by Lorraine Mixter for her last week as our President (Mazel Tov!).  

 
TBS Members, Lorraine and all of our Board also look forward to seeing you at the Annual Meeting on Sunday, April 27 at 2:00 PM.

Shabbat Service/Purim Celebration — Fri Mar 14, 7:30 pm

Dear Temple Beth Shalom Members and Friends, we invite you to celebrate another Purim holiday as well as Shabbat with us this Friday, March 14 at 7:30 pm.  The evening will begin with a traditional, brief Shabbat service officiated by our mild-mannered and dignified Rabbi Herzfeld.  

 
As is Rabbi Herzfeld’s tradition at Purim, after the service he will excuse himself to give the bimah to his exclusively selected guest to lead us in reading Megillat Esther.  It is once again a mystery as to who he has invited this time, but they are sure to be colorful and energetic, and we are counting on you to welcome them.  
 
Zoom will not be available for this service, but it has to be experienced in person!  We need you there to make some noise, preferably in costume!  Children are especially welcome.  Expect to enjoy some fun and hamantaschen.

Lay Services

A morning lay led Sabbath service is now scheduled for:

 Saturday, February 22nd at 11:00 am.

It will be led by Sandi Grinker and Deborah Grinker.

Following services stay for lunch at the Temple . We will be serving lox,  bagels, tuna fish and all the fixings. Please join us for lunch. All are welcome to stay.

Shabbat — Feb 14-15

Hello Temple Beth Shalom Members and Friends, this Shabbat is all love (why should this one be any different? 😄❤️)!  Rabbi Herzfeld will lead our Shabbat service on Friday, February 14 at 7:30 pm.  You can as always attend with us in our sanctuary or on Zoom.  Our Meryl Crews will be unable to sing with us, but you may be able to sing for her!  She might be able to join us on Zoom, so attend if you can and show what she taught you.

Torah Study is again hybrid, set up at our building and also available on Zoom on Saturday, February 15 at 10:00 am. Contact us for the Zoom link.

Hello Temple Beth Shalom Members and Friends, it’s cold outside, but Member-Led Shabbat services make it feel like Summer!  Our Board Vice President, Bert Devorsetz, kindly offered to lead a Shabbat service in our building on this coming Saturday, January 25 at 10:30 am.  Come on out and enjoy the service, and say hello to Bert.

Shabbat Jan 17-18

Hello Temple Beth Shalom Members and Friends, it is still cool outside, but the light and friendship of our synagogue are always warm!  We meet again for Shabbat services with Rabbi Herzfeld on Friday, January 17 at 7:30 pm.  We will enjoy our traditional Shabbat service with Meryl Crews’ vocal accompaniment.  You can attend with us in the building, and the service will be available via the Zoom link. Shabbat/Chanukah — Dec 27-28

Chag Chanukah Sameach Temple Beth Shalom Members and Friends!  We light the first candle in our homes tonight at sundown.  It will be the third night of Chanukah when we meet this Friday, December 27, and we will light the three candles together.  Our Board members and their helpers have a lovely dinner planned to start at 6:00 pm.  If you plan to come to dinner but have not advised the planners, let Lorraine Mixter at lorrainemixter@aol.com know ASAP.

 
Along with delicious food and friendship, we will have songs and an entertaining skit Beverly Lerner authored to share with you.  After dinner and singing, we will have a short, traditional Shabbat service.  The service will be on Zoom as well as in the sanctuary, for anyone unable to make it in for the on-site festivities.

We are trying a later time for our hybrid on-site/Zoom Torah Study session.  Torah Study will meet on Saturday, December 28 at 10:00 am.  The Zoom link will work for both the service and the Torah Study. Contact us for the link.
